The Stars and the Threads of Time

Time was once locked in a ring, repeating endlessly. During the rise, powerful star druids harnessed the celestial forces, but as the fall came, the lights lost their power.

Then, The Voice spoke, and time became a spiral—more intricate than a loop, yet still bound by the waxing and waning of the stars’ power. Speckles of light swayed in wildly complex patterns, shifting in ways that defied simple understanding.

When The Wardens shattered the spiral into an untethered thread, nothing was assured. Even The Voice could no longer see what was to come—only what was.

The twinkling lights and drifting celestial bodies are the material incarnations of the planes, the power of deities, the fundamental forces of existence. They reveal the true state of the cosmos in the moment and expose the hidden patterns of reality’s unfolding. Some patterns are known to all; the common folk recognize shapes in the stars that depict their gods—beings who ascended by embodying these fundamental patterns. But for those who truly know how to look, the heavens unveil far greater mysteries.

The arrangement of stars, from an academic perspective, would tend towards a configuration that represents the patterns of the cosmos. However, there is noise and variability brought on by gods that do not perfectly match their domain patterns.

The Voice can see all of the stars and interpret them expertly but no one can know the future. And yet, the shape of the underlying forces of reality—the intricate patterns embedded in the present—are inscribed across the night sky. A mortal has only to look up and learn to see the stars for what they truly are: material echoes of the powers that be.

Powerful heroes and deities, moral sigils, and omens of trials to come are woven into the constellations. Those who understand them gain wisdom, for in knowing the past and seeing the present with clarity, one may glimpse the shape of what is to come. But true clairvoyance and perfect prophecy remain forever out of reach.

The Stars After the Fall

After the Fall, the stars changed. Some lights vanished; patterns shifted and came to rest in unfamiliar formations, while new stars flared into existence. The sky itself was rewritten.

Yet knowledge remains power. The wise still seek understanding in the celestial order, for even if the stars are never an absolute guide, they reveal more than darkness alone. Knowing the stars allows one to perceive more than those who do not.

There is power in the stars—not merely as representations of greater forces, but in themselves. The stars are magic.

The Old Sky

I. Celestial Regions

The Wyrm’s Coils Dragons
A vast, dense, and tightly wound band of stars, like a colossal serpent encircling much of the sky. Its “head” and “tail” regions were particularly bright and distinct.

The Divine Court / The Celestial Throne Divine authority, cosmic order
A brilliant cluster of exceptionally bright, steadily shining stars, often of pure white, gold, or silver hue. It was always high and prominent, never setting from most perspectives in the world.

**The Shimmering Veil (Contained)** planes, elements
A relatively small, subtle, and stable patch of nebulosity, often with a soft, gentle iridescence. It was a known curiosity, a beautiful but predictable marvel.

The Fields of Concord peace, prosperity, bounty
A broad, serene expanse of sky filled with evenly distributed, moderately bright stars, creating a sense of peace and harmony.

II. Constellations

The Unified Trinity / The Three Lords teamwork, comradery, family - then later, the United Pantheon
Three exceptionally bright stars of distinct but harmonious colors, forming a perfect equilateral triangle, often found within or near the Divine Court.

The Firstborn / The Progenitor self, identity, mortality
A large, sprawling constellation depicting a vaguely humanoid or ancestral figure. Crucially, it had smaller, attached star-groupings representing different “limbs” or “aspects.”

The Guardian’s Aegis protection, order
A perfect, unbroken circle of bright stars with a radiant central star.

III. Unique Heavenly Bodies

**The Sovereign’s Orb (Planet)** Pantheon’s watchful will
A large, steadily shining planet that moved with slow, predictable majesty across the Divine Court. Its color was a deep, regal purple or gold.

The Comet of Cycles seasons, traditions, oaths
A bright comet with a short, neat tail that appeared with absolute regularity, every century

The New Night

I. Celestial Regions

The Great Dark Absence, void
Vast, unnervingly empty patches of sky, deeper and more extensive than any known before. Stars seem to have vanished, leaving only an oppressive, silent blackness.

The Uncoiled Wyrm Dragons, rising, returning or emergence
The once-tight band of the Wyrm’s Coils is now elongated, with gaps between its bands, and stars scattered as if a colossal serpent has uncoiled.

**The Shimmering Veil (Expanded & Unstable)** elements, chaos, nature’s wrath
Now vastly larger, this region of nebulosity pulses with erratic, vibrant, and sometimes clashing colors. Tendrils of light snake out from it, and strange auroras are often seen near its edges.

The Scar war’s aftermath, healing wounds
A jagged, angry gash across the heavens, a dark rift nebula tinged with dull, blood-red light. It seems to absorb the light of nearby stars. Eternal reminder of The Fall.

The Court of Silence Fallen gods, lost power
The once-brilliant cluster of the Divine Court is now noticeably dimmer, with many stars missing or extinguished. Those that remain flicker erratically.

II. Constellations

The Sundered Kin / The Scattered Seeds Mortal races splintered
The Firstborn constellation is broken apart. The “limbs” are now distinct, separate, and faint clusters, drifting away from a barely visible “core.”

**The Tyrant’s Crown (Emerged)** New ambitions, the burden of leaders
A jagged, almost broken circlet of stars, with a few brighter “gems.” This might be a reinterpretation of old stars or a newly prominent pattern.

The Lost Voyager Searching, exile, uncertainty
A faint, meandering line of stars, seeming to wander aimlessly through the most parts of the sky.

The Hope’s Spark / The Last Candle Nascent hope, resilience
A single, surprisingly steady and bright small star, often found near the edge of the Great Dark or the Scar of Ruin, a defiant point of light.

III. Unique Heavenly Bodies

**The Star of Fate (Recurring Comet)** omens, unpredictably
A new, erratic comet with a long, pale, multi-stranded tail. It appears unpredictably.

The Planar Bleed Nebulae Planar incursions, wild magic
Shifting, amorphous clouds of bizarrely colored gas and dust appearing in new parts of the sky, especially near the expanded Shimmering Veil. They sometimes pulse with strange light or emit unsettling sounds (perceptible to those with keen senses or magical attunement).
