Description

Was in a monastery for 23 years to become a monk when he got the chance to get on a ship. Taking it, as his next great adventure, he ended up stranded on a desert island for 33 years.

Was on the island during The Fall and didn’t notice anything.

Spent his years studying the ruins of the island, growing his astral powers.

May have eaten other survivors from the ship? He’s oddly into the culinary arts.

Story Arc

Becoming psionic, otherworldly, eventually an aberration outside the powers of divinity.

Psionic Awakening

After the party shattered Lunalata‘s psionic crystal with Kriv‘s help, the psychic energy intimately drew Grafyr in, awakening a latent psionic potential within him.

Death & Resurrection

During the Sahuagin Island mission, Grafyr was killed fighting an octopus and his body was destroyed by a shark. As his body drifted down, the healing jellyfish followed him into the depths. He was brought back to life with their help. Having seen that the body is a mere shell within the material plane, he is now a psion.

Consumption

Grafyr learned to channel the spirits of enemies through their flesh, drawing strength from the very essence of their being. When defeating a foe in close quarter combat, he can consume a portion of the fallen, bolstering his own vitality. Occasionally, he may draw upon a unique benefit related to the nature of the creature consumed.

He first manifested this ability after downing a man in the post-cooking-competition brawl at The Exchange — taking a bite of his victim’s body before walking away.

Epilogue

Grafyr returned to the island that had been his home for so long. Over the following months or years, he explored his psionic abilities in solitude — experimenting by day and reaching out with his mind at night. His mental vision sharpened until he could see reality unlike anyone else.

With that clarity, he found something: a distant, low thrumming like a lighthouse on the ocean horizon. He moved his mind toward it and it grew nearer, louder. The power swelled violently and he realized it had found him. From the dark abyss, beyond the planes of reality, something deep, old, and from somewhere else came for him.
