iwagata
Details
Iwagata is an island nation located east of the main continent of Edous. It was originally inhabited by the Vanara, but now serves as an island of exile for a greater land further east. Those exiled here, along with their descendants, have largely taken over the western portion of the island.
The social structure and culture of Iwagata differ significantly from the mainland. Clans are not a major part of Iwagatan society; instead, it is organized largely along racial lines. It is a highly physical culture where constant hitting is used to show affection, and grappling is a popular pastime with many unspoken, highly contextual rules (such as when biting, scratching, closed fists, or blood are acceptable). Rice desserts are uniquely crafted and consumed as potions.
Social Hierarchy:
- Low Class: Gaur (Orcs/Minotaurs - Barbarians of the mountains), Tanezumi (Goblins/Rat - Low class city dwellers), Kurobuta (Wereboar/Pig - Low class city dwellers), Vanara (Monkey - Forest folk, edge of town).
- High Class: Ayam (Aarakocra/Rooster - Merchants), Usagi (Rabbit - Priests), Li Mao (Rakshasa/Tiger - Rare, loners tending evil).
- Revered: Dragons (Only a few individual dragons).
