gallyway

Details
Gallyway is the city on the opposite side of the river from Tir na Nog. It was founded by the survivors of Tir na Nog after it originally sank.
Size
City - Population 10,941
Architecture
- Buildings near the docks are stone.
- Blocks further inland are a mix of stone and wood.
- The Mix is a shanty town without cobbled paths built upon unstable ground.
Demographics
Generous mix of all the races. A few more exotic races come and go with the ships.
Economy
The docks bring in goods for a fee and arrange shipments to cities across the confederacy. Goods from Zatar also ship out for a fee. Historically, each district carried its own coinage, though this was abolished under Silverside‘s rule in Year 3702 in favor of standard gold and a shadow currency. Bartering goods is also fairly common.
Government
Historically governed by the Musali, a merchant guild that governed the individual gilded districts. Smaller members paid more powerful members (like Gaine, Slatebran, and Murpian) to maintain the peace, creating a city divided into independent neighborhoods that policed themselves.
After Silverside dismantled the Musali with the help of the Salt Mercenaries, the city transitioned to his central rule, eventually growing powerful enough post-Fall to operate as a capital unto itself.
Timeline
- Year 3699 - The Musali: Governed by the Musali guild. The Salt Mercenaries assisted Silverside and Martin Nesp in overthrowing the brutal leaders (Gaine, Slatebran, Murpian), who were secretly running a slave trade. Silverside abolished the slave trade and the Nesp family took over the vacant ports.
- Year 3702 - Post-Titan Era: Flourished as the region’s only mass functioning port after Ka'Charo‘s destruction.
- Year 3702 - The Risen District: The Sunken District rises. After the Shadows slay Lorzen, Silverside claims the district, expanding his power until Gallyway becomes a capital unto itself. District coins abolished in favor of standard gold and a shadow currency (silver on one side, copper on the other for illegal favors).
- Year 3712: On the young nation-city’s decennial anniversary, Silverside unveils a statue in the central flowering gardens commemorating Lorzen as the “honorary first citizen.”
- Post-3702: Silverside is assassinated via poisoned wine in Caspin. This creates a power vacuum filled by warmongers, leading to war with the Andes Kingdom (from Litch Campaign).
