solar

Overview
Solar is a village established in 3698 by Auroratine as a gathering place for the extended Tofusin family. As of 3702, it has a population of around 200 people.
Demographics
By 3702, the population is mostly elves that live and work at the cathedral. A mix of other races work the fields and run the shops, filling the gaps that the Tofusin family members do not.
Economy
The Tofusins share their wealth, but non-family members—those just moving to the settlement—are independent and pay a small tax. The cathedral attracts distant family members who bring their wealth with them into a communal pool. There is a fair bit of trade with passing ships on their way to Farfield, but nothing that generates much new wealth. Solar mostly imports goods they need due to a lack of tradesmen. Some family members travel out into the world on do-good missions, collecting “donations” from people they help, acting as sort of spec-ops for hire.
Government
Members of the family defer to Auroratine in any matter of importance.
Crime
In such a small settlement consisting of a major family, there is no crime or guards to speak of.
Religion
The primary deity worshipped is Correllon, the creator of the elves.
Culture
Family is deeply important to the residents, so births and marriages are big celebrations that last a whole week. A birth is celebrated by inscribing the child’s name on the family tree. The familial link between most members is fairly distant; the closest relationship documented was between 3rd cousins. Everyone wears exceptionally nice shoes, as the local cobbler is a master craftsman beyond the needs of the settlement.
Timeline
- 3698 - Auroratine establishes Solar.
- 3702 - Sol and The Shadows attack Solar, slaying many family members including Felarathael. Auroratine is captured, but ultimately she and Sol survive the ensuing events. Instead of returning to Solar, they settle in Shaa Thalas (see Shadows Campaign).
- 3715 - With Auroratine and Sol gone, and very few people remaining, the local economy collapses, and Solar becomes a simple village with a tremendous temple.
