Before The Shadow Army

Skullcrusher was a pirate captain. He had gathered a tight crew that he was proud of. Him and his men amassed a hoard of treasure, stashing it on an island. The island was cursed, however, and his crew was decimated. Skullcrusher gets an opportunity to escape the island, but the small vessel only fits one so he abandons his crew to their fates on the island.

Skullcrusher is hurt by this. His team is on that island and they are being torn apart. He is failing to go down with the ship, to help his comrades to their deaths.

Joining the Shadow Army

Hopelessly drifting in the sea, a boat of the Shadow Army picks him up. The Shadow Army sees his raw power and lack of scruples and Skullcrusher has nothing else but wants to stay out of the water. He is let in among their ranks, taking on raids and missions needing brute strength.

He enjoys the fighting, and deep down agrees with The Silence in a way. He has some sense of morality; only slaying those who fight him, respecting those that show great personal power. The rest, while they are of little interest to him, he wouldn’t be outright cruel. The weak are below the strong, but the strong shouldn’t needlessly harm them. Let the bugs do what they will. If anything, it’s a sign of weakness to hurt them because they are not a threat; and if you only attack things that are threats and you attack a weak, that means you are not strong.

Skullcrusher is a slow thinker though. He is preoccupied by the battles he participates in and the Shadow Army provides him a place to exist. What’s more, is he is part of a team, like his old crew.

The Shadows

He gets grouped up with strangers for the mission with the others to Shaa Thalas. He’d much rather be uptop with the main combat and his new men, but he makes due by crushing some skulls as they search for Lorzen and this Vigor thing.

Dying on that mission and returning millennia later to no Shadow Army, gave him pause. As they journey together, he begins to think- slowly- why is he even doing this anymore? There’s no Shadow Army and his fellow officers are weak, not a team like his old crews.

When he has his chance with the djinn, he takes it. He pushes The Shadows out to their fates, but resurrects Estivan‘s previous network of piracy.
